The project to set up a Community Shop and Cafe in Normandy is gathering pace, with groups of people working in small teams to look at the location and premises, while others look at the business plan, funding and agreeing the products and services that will be offered.
Our vision – The Normandy Community Shop & Cafe
The Normandy Community Shop & Cafe will be a purpose-built shop, owned by the community, run by the community, for the benefit of the community. The shop will be a modern, attractive and ecologically friendly focal point for the village, showcasing local produce alongside everyday items to cater for day to day needs as well as the odd treat. The shop will not try to compete with supermarkets but will offer fresh local goods as well as store cupboard staples. Providing essential purchases and services will help avoid longer journeys out of the area thereby saving time and fuel. As we move forward with the planning and talk with suppliers and service providers, we will regularly share our progress with you.
Ultimately, The Normandy Shop & Cafe will encourage a community spirit and create a busy hub for everyone. Helping those who are less mobile and those who lead busy lives, offering useful produce and services and connecting people, who have time to volunteer, run social activities and maybe simply make new friends.
Our aim is to be open to customers by Autumn 2021.
